Hi! I am Shania Taylor, the owner and crafter behind the scenes of Honey B's Boutique. In this blog I'd like to introduce myself to you, and give you a little back story on how we came about!
A few fun facts:
1. I am a mama to 4 CRAZY kids.
2. I am a wife to an AMAZING man and father. His name is Zack.
3. A good chunk of my life revolved around horses, and many other farm critters.
4. I have wanted to open my own store since I was 10, maybe 12 years old.
5. We are from Michigan!
Yes, you read that right!! I have ALWAYS wanted to open my own boutique since I was a little girl, and always dreamed I would make my own items to sell in my shop! Fast forward through life, raising a farm of many MANY different animals, work life, getting married, and becoming a mama to 4 crazy fun kiddos.... I have FINALLY pushed and made my childhood dreams a reality!!
I started off small as a little hobby crafting and sharing the things I've made for myself, my kids, friends and family through Facebook, which sparked lots of interest from local friends. So then I knew right away, this was as good of time as any, to rip the anxiety bandaid and GO FOR IT! I quickly created a business name "Taylor Made Craft Co." obtained my LLC, registered it, obtained my sales & use tax licensing, vendors permit and insurance, blah, blah, blah.. ALL the things to become 100% legal and able to sell my items. I then started a business page through Facebook, offering custom orders for many different local sports teams and special events/customer requested items, traveling to many craft shows, setting up at several pop-up shops and vendor events and it has taken off faster than I ever imagined possible! You all have been SO supportive, and it has helped our family so much.
Though, things were going well, I knew I wanted to keep pushing towards my goal. Best way to do that is to keep creating, selling, growing and EXPANDING. Next step, Online Store!
Only 1 thing in the way.... I wasn't in love with the name. I didn't HATE it, but I knew it wasn't a keeper for us. Sure, it held our last name, though it was too long, hard to search for people, many people thought my actual name was Taylor, people thought I was strictly crafts and teaching craft classes (I don't teach classes), etc. Long story short, it was becoming a pain in the rear spending so much time answering those questions. I knew from the beginning that I wanted our name and logo to include our children in some way, without over sharing them with the world. Each of our kids names ALL start with the letter B! Because each of them starts with the letter B, we like to call them our little B's or Big B, Middle B, Little B and Littlest B, Our Beehive, Our Little Honey B's...... Hence the new name, Honey B's Boutique!!! OBSESSED!!!!!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH! Each little bee in our logo represents one of our sweet little Honey B's. It is PERFECT!
Now that I've found the perfect name for us, it became time to keep on pushing to the next big step! I decided to open our online shop, to make it easier for everyone to shop my products, boutique items and place their custom orders in between pop up events! I got to work and spent an embarrassing amount of time designing and perfecting our website to make sure it is everything I imagined. It is finally ready! Our Ultimate goal is a physical IN PERSON storefront, but this is a stepping stone towards that goal. We are currently still navigating online store specifics, so please be patient as we tweak our shop, work out kinks, and get comfy!! Stay tuned...
